Euticals is a leading company for the efficient production of intermediates and APIs using a broad range of hazardous chemistries. Our technology portfolio involves halogenations, use of alkali metals, cyanide chemistry and many others. Where unavoidable, we are able to carry out highly exothermic reactions, and use highly reactive substances or thermally or mechanically unstable compounds. Through decades of experience in working with hazardous materials up to a very large scale, we are able to maintain the highest levels of safety and environmental control with even the most hazardous and difficult to handle reagents and solvents, under both cGMP and non-GMP conditions.

Halogenations

Various technologies for the introduction of halogens into a broad range of substrates are carried out at Euticals at large scale. These include chlorination of heterocyclic compounds with phosphorous oxy chloride, bromination of aromatic and heteroaromatic materials and the iodination of aliphatic and aromatic intermediates.

Reactive metals and alkyllithiums

We use lithium and magnesium metal as well as various alkyllithium compound in our organometallic technology portfolio. Due to the potential safety risks posed by the reactions of lithium and lithium compounds, we have invested significant resource into safety studies and we have been successfully handling such reactions at large scale for almost two decades. 

Cyanides and HCN

Our technology portfolio involves many different transformations using alkali cyanides and acetone cyanohydrine. Special palladium based catalysts allow the substitution of aryl halides to aryl nitriles. Our enzymatic application portfolio involves oxynitrilase handling, yielding enantiopure cyanohydrins, mandelic acids, amino alcohols and other derivatives. In such reactions, it is often a requirement to apply HCN which is generated by in-situ methods, to minimise safety risks. 

Other hazardous chemistries

Over the decades of production experience, a broad portfolio of further hazardous chemistries has been developed and scaled at Euticals. These reactions allow us to offer optimal synthetic solutions and to sometimes access to products which are not available with “classical” chemical methods. One of our main strengths is the ability to combine such hazardous reactions within the highly differentiating fields of modern organometallic, enzymatic and heterocyclic chemistry.
